How to Redirect to an Off-Site Payment Form After Checkout

Hosted payment forms allow you to process online transactions without capturing or storing users’ financial data on your own servers.

When customers check out during the sales process, they temporarily leave your site and complete payment on a third-party platform before returning to your e-commerce store. As an online merchant, these hosted payment pages allow you to outsource data security and limit your liability.

But how do you actually set up hosted pages and redirect customers to these off-site payment forms?

Setting up Off-Site Payment Redirection – 5 Easy Steps

Each hosted payment provider follows a slightly different set up process. But at BluePay, getting started is incredibly easy:

1. Register with BluePay

The first step involves setting up an account with BluePay. You can either do this manually or have our support team guide you through the process.

2. Choose Your Hosted Payment Pages

Once accepted in the BluePay network, you can then select which payment forms you want to use for your online store. We offer a range of default templates (optimized and tested for high conversion). And we also allow you to create your own customized payment pages (branded to mirror the overall look and feel of your e-commerce store).

We'll then host your payment form on our servers and send you a quick confirmation to let you know that your account is up and running.

3. Create a Unique Redirection URL

After receiving this confirmation, you can create unique URLs to redirect customers during the checkout process.

4. Test the Transaction Workflow

With your payment form and URL set up, it's time to begin testing the transaction process. Our support team will create a Sandbox Account to let you do some dry runs. However, we also recommend conducting a few “live” transactions — preferably using different browsers and different credit cards.

5. Activate Your Account

After successfully completing a few tests, you are now ready to activate your account and begin accepting real payments using your BluePay-hosted pages.

Now whenever prospective customers want to purchase one of your products or services, they’ll:

  • Click on a link or checkout button on your site.
  • Be automatically redirected (via a unique URL) to your branded page on our end.
  • Input their payment information (credit card details, mailing address, etc.).
  • Complete the transaction — by clicking “OK” or “Submit.”
  • Be automatically redirected back to your online store.
